Reunited with an oldie

I lost my camera last year during one of my drunken outings. It was a Kodak V570. It features a wide angle lens that takes excellent up in close self portraits and an automatic panoramic shot (pic above). I've used it through out my first couple trips to Europe and in my eyes, it took excellent pictures. So I guess there also was some sort of sentimental value with it.
I purchased the Panasonic LX2 to replace the lost Kodak camera. It’s an awesome camera but I miss the two distinct features the Kodak offered (automatic panoramic shots and the wide angle compact lens). After further contemplation, I went on craigslist.com and found a seller for an upgraded version (V610). I picked it up yesterday and I am very pleased to have it as my camera for on the go. The Panasonic LX2 is compact as well, but the Kodak V610 is much slender and not as bulky in a pocket. I’m hoping to purchase a Nikon D90 soon.

Observation

I was at Taco Bell the other day and observed a couple interesting things while eating a double beef burrito and a triple layer nacho:

1) It was very interesting observing an elderly woman whom did not speak English attempt to order food. She appeared to be Chinese. What made it interesting is the fact that I just got back from Hong Kong and witnessed a complete 180 from my experience in Hong Kong. The Chinese people in Hong Kong were absolutely rude. When I tried to communicate to them, they’d give me a dirty look and turn their backs because I didn’t know how to speak Chinese. Here-in the US, the lady at the counter was very patient and helpful in taking the Chinese lady’s order. What made it even stranger was the lady working behind the counter wasn’t fluent with English. She was of Latin decent. If I was in Bizarro World, the Chinese woman would have received the cold shoulder.

2) There were 3 young gals Kids talking about getting jobs. One of them just got hired for her first job and was very excited. She boasted about treating her companions out to lunch on her first pay check and her parents as well. As I listened in, their conversation took me back to my first job. In the 4th grade, I handed out newspapers at an event near the Golden Gate Bridge which took place very early in the morning. I earned 50 bucks which went towards my Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

Mos Def and Yachts

I went to Jack London Square to watch Mos Def at Yoshi’s. With a Max capacity of 100people in the venue, the intimate environment was off the chains. His show was Raw and unexpected as he featured the instruments in his band.

I got to Jack London Square early so I walked around a bit and noticed they had a Yacht show. I’ve never been inside a Yacht so I decided to walk around and check out what the inside of a Yacht looked like. I was quite surprised with the different layouts each Yacht had.

Scent

I just got back from a 2 week trip from the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Macau. I miss the clean smell of the air here in the US in comparison to Manila.

There’s a certain smell right before stepping out the plane that notifies me that I have arrived in the Philippines. The sent of burning garbage. It’s one of those scents that I can never forget.

Wi-Fi

I found it interesting seeing these booths in Hong Kong. To my knowledge, they’re like hot spots, so a subscription to a service provider is needed.
