Who's older?

I was out bar hopping last night with a few guys whom I normally go out with. During a conversation with one of the German acquaintances, we started to converse on who’s older. In a drunk state, the conversation went like this:

Flo: You’re an old fart RJ
Me: Nawwww I think you’re older
Flo: No way, what year were you born?
Me: XXXX
Flo: No way, me too! What month
Me: July
Flo: Hahahahahha.. Me too! What day
Me: 9
Flo: You’re lying! Let me see your ID

So we both shared our info like little kids. I can’t believe I know someone who was born on the same day and year as I.

Surprised

I ordered a set of Shure needles with Headshells for my turntable a few weeks ago and got them in last week. So I’ve been messing around with my turntables and just noticed the Headshells that I got was the original headshells that I wanted – Original Technics Headshells. I thought I was going to receive Shure Headshells which are a few bucks cheaper but instead got the ones that I wanted.

First Session of '09

I had a great time snowboarding yesterday at Sierra At Tahoe. The mountain was empty and for the most part of the day, the weather was good. The only time I'll go to Sierra At Tahoe is on a weekday because on the weekend, it's complete chaos -never ending lines and reckless riders. It was my first session for the season and I can’t wait to go back.

Camera Effects

Metal Heart from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.

I was hanging out with Phil and Leo earlier this week and one of the topics we discussed was Tilt Shift effect on Video. The first I heard of this was on Ronnie’s blog and I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. He posted a picture and I didn’t know if it was fake or real. Any case, I was enlightened on the subject – creating the illusion of miniaturized objects from life sized objects through camera effects. During the discussion we looked at a few clips on Vimeo.com and I was impressed with the work Kieth Loutit created (video above).

Early Spring Cleaning

After looking at a few Japanese magazines yesterday (thanks Phil), I was inspired to start organizing my room. The magazines illustrated variations of other peoples living quarters. The main concept that I got was: simplicity.

I spent almost 8 hours on this concept today and I’m still not done. I threw out lots items and lots of papers including my chemistry class notes dated 1996. I guess I tend to be a pack rat. Some of the stuff I ran into was borderline garbage because I started to get sentimental on the items. Any case, I made a good run at it today and will continue tomorrow.

Weekend of Sports

What an exciting weekend of sports.

1) GSP dominates BJ Penn
2) Nadal wins an exciting match over Federer
3) Pittsburg drives with 2:30 min left to win the Superbowl

Of the three, I enjoyed the Nadal/Federer match most. I became a Nadal fan after watching the Wimbledon ‘08 match at bar called Parrilla Argentina in Pamplona, Spain (video above). Due to the length and point advantage swings of the game, that match was labeled as one of the most memorable matches in Wimbledon history. With Nadal winning the Australian open, I’m looking forward for the French open in hopes he takes a good stab for a Grand Slam this year.
